Gun Dog Scurry

 

With special thanks to Gamekeeper Goods who have donated some fabulous generous prizes for the scurry, and Skinner’s for their generous voucher donations and BASC for sponsoring rosettes. 

These events are open to all breeds of gundogs and the general public.

All events are open competitions.

All classes start at 10am and last entries are 2.30pm.

All prizes MUST be collected on the day

£4 per entry or  £10 to do all three scurries.   Junior entry £3

Entries taken from 10 am.

Final entries 2.30pm.

Prize giving at 3.15pm approx at entry tent.

Rosettes for 1st to 4th in each scurry (open to all)

Rosettes for 1st to 4th – junior handler (under 16) for Scurry 1 (over the bales).

Cup to fastest combined time Scurry 1, 2 and 3 (open to all).

This year we are pleased to be welcoming the Hursley Hambledon, Hampshire Hounds and also the Palmer Marlborough Beagles to our show.  The Hursley Hambledon will be demonstrating Trail laying in the arena – don’t miss this display.  There will be static displays and members of each hunt on hand who will be more than happy to answer any questions you have throughout the day.

The Palmer, Marlborough & Clinkard Meon Beagles

Beagling is an ancient sport based on hounds following the scent of a hare; we now mimic the hare using an aniseed trail or we go rabbiting. The Palmer Marlborough Clinkard Meon Valley Beagles are kennelled locally and hunt throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire. We are hosted by generous farmers, landowners and gamekeepers who welcome us into some of the most beautiful areas of countryside. Beagling suits every age group as we hunt on foot and stay in one area, so you can run with the hounds or stand on a hill to watch and listen. Dress for the weather and come and join in the fun; beagles are friendly and energetic, as puppies they spend their early months staying with families being educated then return to kennels to become part of the pack. Come and meet the beagles.

The Coursing Crew are a group of like-minded friends, that have worked and competed with their own dogs for many years, we are mainly based in the East Midlands. We have been travelling all over the country organising and running Lurcher & Terrier events for about 15 years.

We have a Facebook page “Coursing Crew shows & events”.

Entries taken from 9am for all field events, which will commence at 10am approx with simulated coursing followed by straight racing for over 23″, 23″ & under, under 21″, puppies(9-12 months), whippets & terrier racing.

When all field events are completed there will be a presentation for the winners at the entry tent.

The full Lurcher & Terrier show will commence at 1pm approx.

Entry Criteria

Only undocked and legally docked terriers may be entered at this show.

All terriers born on or after 6 April 2007 must be legally docked to be entered.

Exhibitors must be members of a working terrier club. Terrier breed club or be a hunt terrier man, gamekeeper or pest controller at the time of entry.
